Neuropsychological Evaluation
Neuropsychological assessments generally includes testing for intellectual abilities (IQ), attention/executive functioning skills, working memory (and sometimes other aspects of memory), and emotional functioning. Personality and language measures are sometimes provided during neuropsychological evaluations, depending on the need and depending on the reason the individual is needing testing.

Testing is a long process. An initial appointment is made to gather necessary background and medical history to determine how much testing is needed. This will help determine the amount of time your evaluation appointment will be scheduled for. Neuropsychological assessment typically lasts between 4-6 hours for both children and for adults. After you or your child attend the evaluation day, the turn-around time for integrative neuropsychological reports is 2-4 weeks. Reports include recommendations for treatment and, in some cases, for educational needs. The last steps of the testing process include a feedback appointment, where you will meet with your psychologist to discuss the results, and then you will be sent a copy of your or your child's report.

What to bring to your neuropsychological evaluation appointment: water, snacks, lunch, and any completed questionnaires/paperwork sent to you ahead of time. Wear comfortable clothing.
